Pre-conference workshops

ASPA Singapore
e-Paediatric Perioperative Life Support Programme, 6-7 Nov 2021
0900-1330h Singapore time

In conjunction with the ASPA Singapore 2021 Congress, we are inviting participants to the online or electronic e-Paediatric Perioperative Life Support / PPLS workshop.
PPLS is suitable for all anaesthesiologists managing children.

Even in the "best of hands" perioperative crises can occur. Hence early identification and effective management can prevent crises from escalating to irretrievable cardiac arrest.

PPLS workshop modules consists of equipping talks and interactive case discussions.
The focus will be on identifying the child at risk for various potential perioperative complications, planning appropriate strategies to reduce morbidity and mortality.

Topics covered in the PPLS workshop include:

1. Identification and Management of “the child at risk” e.g.

  • Hypovolemic child: from trauma, dehydration or sepsis
  • Hypoxic child: child with hyper-reactive airway e.g. laryngospasm or bronchospasm

2. Effective management of perioperative crises e.g.

  • Effective CPR
  • Arrhythmias; drugs, cardioversion and defibrillation
  • Uncommon complications e.g. anaphylaxis, local anaesthetic systemic toxicity
  • Intraosseous vascular access
  • Teamwork during crisis management
  • Delivering bad news

Number of participants: 24 (minimum number to run 12 persons)
Cost of workshop:

  • ASPA members: 20 SGD
  • Non-ASPA members: 40 SGD
